The UBL.BE Standard is based on the European Standard EN 16931. Click here for more information on the EN 16931.

Parts of our documentation is information reused from the EN 16931 itself. The reuse of information is in line with guidelines and with permission of CEN and NBN.

Be aware that the UBL.BE standard is a conformant extension on the EN16931-1 and not compliant. As the new Belgian law only allows compliant specifications, our standard can not be used to send invoices to customers. However, it can be used in specific situations like e.g. exporting sales invoices from an ERP software to be imported in the sales journal of the accounting software. UBL.BE supports some scenarios not yet covered by the EN16931-1 like sales to private persons, OSS, etc…

The schematron for the new UBL.BE version that is based on the EN16931 for e-invoicing.

As support for the EN becomes mandatory for public entities as from April 2019, we strongly advise you to update your software according the migration plan put forward by the Peppol community.
